DULUTH, GEORGIA – AMI®, a global leader in powering, managing and securing the world’s connected digital infrastructure, is pleased to announce its new, upgraded status as a Platinum level member of the Open Compute Project®.

The Open Compute Project (OCP) represents a global community of technology leaders working together to break open the black box of proprietary IT infrastructure to achieve greater choice, customization, and cost savings. OCP makes these solutions, standards and designs available through its OCP Marketplace, where organizations of all types and sizes can research and learn how to purchase OCP Accepted™ and OCP Inspired™ products.

AMI is committed to contributing to the open-source community to encourage transparency, reliability and security at every level of the datacenter ecosystem. Now, as a Platinum Member of OCP, AMI can focus even further on its goals of driving the datacenter industry forward, encouraging broader adoption of industry-standard datacenter solutions and harnessing a respected platform to provide innovative features back to the Community.

As part of its deepened commitment to the open-source community, AMI recently contributed its Aptio OpenEdition™ UEFI Firmware and MegaRAC OpenEdition™ BSP Firmware code bases to the Open Compute Project. This means that developers can now consume the standard OCP firmware build, including the Aptio OpenEdition and MegaRAC OpenEdition code from AMI, directly from an industry leader with decades of BMC and BIOS firmware development.

In its new role as a Platinum Member of OCP, AMI will work with the OCP Community to upstream community derived code and continue to push updated, validated code from AMI developers out to the Community. The results will provide adopters with code that is widely adopted, stable and secure. Continued adoption of OCP firmware throughout the industry will help start and scale firmware development teams, reducing the time needed for onboarding and training developers. Firmware development for new and existing projects also benefit from the inclusion of industry-leading firmware development tools.

“AMI’s move to Platinum membership with the Open Compute Project directly reflects our ambitions and goals as OCP Contributor, given our recent contribution of our Aptio OpenEdition and MegaRAC OpenEdition code bases to the Project. We believe that our expanded participation in OCP as a Contributor and Platinum Member is an emphatic expression of AMI’s desire to fully embrace open-source opportunities and find new ways to support our customers and the industry at large,” said Sanjoy Maity, Chief Executive Officer of AMI.

“Most importantly, our upgraded membership will translate to added visibility for AMI, enhancing our image and standing as a foundational technology company that is actively engaged with the open-source ecosystem. This is especially important and relevant for us in the datacenter, cloud and telco verticals – key areas of focus for AMI in our ongoing push towards organizational transformation and industry leadership,” he added.

Kelly Bryant, Chief Product Officer of AMI, added his thoughts by saying “At this higher level of membership, AMI will participate more fully within OCP at a level that is commensurate with its status in the industry and as a source-code contributor to the Project. The OCP Community can expect to see AMI take a more decisive leadership role within it, sponsoring and speaking at OCP events, leading projects and committees and interacting more deeply with other OCP members and the wider community of interest.”

“AMI has been involved in the OCP Community for some time, and the decision to upgrade to Platinum membership is a reflection of the importance of open-source initiatives at all levels of the scalable computing ecosystem,” stated Bill Carter, Chief Technology Officer of Open Compute Project. “As a Platinum member, AMI will be more involved in industry events and speaking engagements through OCP and related industry groups. We look forward to their increased participation in the OCP Community among those forward-thinking organizations using OCP technologies, specifications and OCP Inspired™ and OCP Accepted™ products, from ODMs that build and sell products, and our “circular economy” resellers.”
